THE NAKSHASTRA

The Lunar Zodiac is divided into 27 sections called Nakshatra. Each division is 13°20'. Each day the Moon transits one nakshatra. The Nakshatra can also be called the day star. In your birth chart, the nakshatra of the moon is your birth star. The nakshatra guides the energy of the day & supports different activities. 

Understanding the birth star is essential to accurate timing and understanding the deeper meaning of your personal astrology. 

The Lunar Zodiac (nakshatra) and the Solar Zodiac (the 12 signs) align at 3 points called gandanta or knots. These 3 points are between Pisces/Aries, Cancer/Leo, Scorpio/Sagittarius. Planets in these positions are of extra significance.

There are 4 further sub-sections of each nakshatra called padam. Each pada modulates the expression of that nakshatra further.
